Biografie

Scottish Guitarist Kevin Cahill began playing Guitar at the age of 14. He studied Classical Guitar at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with Peter Stewart, Ian Watt and Matthew McAlister along with many other international visiting artists. During this time he also studied Contemporary Guitar with Jazz Guitarist Malcolm Macfarlane, graduating with a Bmus (Hons) in Classical Guitar.

Showing incredible passion as a solo performer and collaborator, Kevin has commissioned several works for the guitar and has subsequently performed in several cities throughout the UK and Europe. Kevin’s passion for chamber music extends from solo guitar to larger ensembles, most recently he has coached & conducted the London Guitar Orchestra and has provided masterclasses for several Guitar Societies throughout the UK.

In 2017 Kevin joined Tom Kersten’s G Plus Ensemble and performed at the IGF International Guitar Summit in London Kings Place with the Ligeti Quartet, where they premiered new works by Max Richter and John Metcalfe in a BGS Records double album launch event.

Hailed for his passionate and distinct post modern performances, Kevin has performed at various venues in the UK and Europe, most recently at Festival Guitar Lagoa 2017, Portugal; Festival Delle Due Cettà, in San Donà Di Piavi, Italy; The National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh Festival; The International Guitar Foundation, Kings Place in London; Glasgow Royal Concert Hall ‘Minimal Festival’; Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen, Germany; Stoke Newington Music Festival 2016; STRATA at Bloc, Glasgow; The Ullapool Guitar Festival; Suono, Chitarra e Natura in Milan, Italy; Sofar Sounds Athens/London.

In September 2016 Kevin was appointed Guitar Lead for Newham Music in London. Kevin continues his studies on the Masters of Music programme at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Germany, with Professor Tomasz Zawierucha.
